Cancer Causes Fever

If my six month old baby had a cancer could the only symptom be slightly anemic?
I took my six month old daughter into the dr. cause she had lk a hundred and two fever. She did a chest exray and a cbc. She then did a breathing treatment. She came back in and said well it looks lk she might have penumonia. But she is alittle anemic. Im just worried as to why she is anemic. All her levels were normal on the cbc exept the hemoglobin. They say like normal hemoglobin is 37-42 and hers is 32. something. Her white blood count was even normal. Wouldn’t that be off if she had penomonia? And if she doesn’t have peunmonia what did they see on the exray? Im soooo worried she has cancer or something! Im a very overpertective mommy and a hypocondiriac myself. Someone please help me feel better. My doctor said we would just check it again at her next well baby visit which isn’t for another two months. Im just a ball of nerves!
you know, your worry and hypochondria will affect your child, they pick up on such behaviors at a very early age. I recommend you find yourself a cognitive behavioral therapist, and learn some skill for dealing with your own issues, or you will pass the same behaviors on to your child.
If the child’s pnuemonia is viral, it won’t raise the white count, only bacterial pnuemonia does that. It is fairly common for infants to be somewhat anemic, that is why they make formula with iron. It is her hemoglobin that is low, not her hematocrit, so she isn’t getting enough nutritional iron yet, that will change as her diet broadens to include iron rich food, truly it isn’t a concern.
