What causes an enlarged kidney– so large I can feel it poking out of my abdomen?

I’m 16 years old. I noticed a lump about 3 1/2 weeks ago, had an ultrasound and the tech couldnt see any other organs but my freakishly enlarged kidney. Haven’t heard from my doctor yet. The only other symptoms I have are fatigue, joint pain and frequent swollen lymph nodes. I am a kidney cancer survivor, and I only have one kidney left.
It is painless.

I know this is not really going to answer your question, but I really would get in touch with your Dr and get some answers.

I’ve had a kidney transplant and spent 6 yrs on dialysis before I had it, so as you know having only one working kidney is precious, and if there is a problem should be looked into ASAP.

Also have they done any blood tests as the tiredness and joint pain could be anemia.

I’ve also had experience with kidney cancer as my mum had her right kidney removed due to cancer in Jan 08, but they have now found it in her liver.

Don’t want to worry you but have they ruled out that the cancer hasn’t returned, even more important with your history and the fact your having swollen lymph nodes.
